Here you can find the score surface for YAP (JMP) vs. Externer LinkMuskrat (a T.N.T. style bomber). The raw data (1.2 MiB) of all fights is also available. Most of the data for this score surface was kindly calculated by brx (150 50x50 patches) and Roy (29 50x50 patches).

Differences to YAP

The main reason to calculate this surface was to find out how it will differ from the surface of YAP vs. Muskrat. The only difference between YAP and YAP (JMP) is, that the backend silk uses a jmp instead of a djn.f.

Despite the fact, that the JMP-version gets a slightly higher overall score against Muskrat, there are several things, which indicate, that the original YAP is the better suited to fight Muskrat. In areas, where the score of YAP is higher than the score of the JMP-version, the image is colored blue. The areas, where YAP (JMP) scores better are red. You soon will notice, that in all areas, which mostly contain obvious bad choices for the steps, the JMP-version scores better. (Bad choices are thoses step pairs, where for "low" values of k the following holds: pStep2 = k * pStep1). In areas, where the original YAP alredy achieves quite good scores, the JMP-version scores worse!

So the JMP-version is a little bit better for step pairs, which you usually would not choose, but worse, where you would look for good values! On average the score of the JMP-version is about 1.3 points lower than the score of original YAP. In 50.98 percent of all cases YAP scores better than YAP (JMP), in 49.08 percent of all cases YAP (JMP) scores better. Almost nowhere the scores are equal.
